Siemens is seeking an experienced System Engineer – Senior Protection Engineer to join our Energy Automation team in Australia. The role focuses on developing detailed designs for substation protection, control, communications, instrumentation and alarms up to 500 kV, and coordinating with project teams to deliver reliable energy infrastructure.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in detailed design of substation protection, control, communications, instrumentation and alarm schemes up to 500 kV.
• Strong knowledge of protection principles, protection coordination, fault analysis and protection relay settings.
• Experience configuring SIPROTEC 5 and Reyrolle protection relays or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of substation communication protocols and standards (IEC 61850, DNP3).
• Ability to develop technical specifications, protection philosophies and study reports.
• Experience with design reviews, verification, testing and commissioning of protection systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Aufgaben

• Preparing detailed engineering designs for substation protection, control, communications, instrumentation and alarm schemes up to 500 kV.
• Developing protection philosophies, technical specifications, drawings and other documentation to meet requirements.
• Preparing protection study reports and relay settings.
• Configuring and parameterising protection relays (SIPROTEC 5, Reyrolle) and other equipment.
• Supporting project management with engineering deliverables, plans and schedules.
• Developing integrated protection, control and communication solutions for complete systems.
• Leading or supporting FAT, SAT and commissioning activities as required.
• Reviewing and approving designs and documentation prepared by external parties.
