Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking an Electrical Protection Engineer to join a specialist team delivering testing, maintenance and commissioning services for electrical infrastructure. The role combines field-based testing, fault finding, technical reporting and client support across HV/MV equipment and substations.

The successful candidate will have a tertiary Electrical Engineering qualification, experience with protection relays, and the ability to interpret single-line diagrams, with a focus on safety

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to interpret protective relay schemes and protection concepts.
• Experience with HV/MV switchgear, transformers and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct protection relay testing, commissioning and maintenance of substations.
• Perform transformer, circuit breaker, cable and earth testing.
• Carry out thermography and corona inspections on electrical assets.
• Undertake fault finding, testing, repair and maintenance of LV/HV equipment.
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams to support testing.
• Produce accurate testing records and formal technical reports.
• Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical advice.
