Job summary

Kinetic IT is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join an onsite team delivering managed ICT services to a Federal Government customer. You will manage SQL Server environments, ensuring performance, availability and security while contributing to automation and on-call duties.

Based in Canberra, the role is full-time and onsite with occasional weekend work. You will back up and restore databases, tune performance and implement security measures to safeguard data.

Qualifications

• Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (required for work with our Federal Government customer).
• Proven SQL experience - SQL Server user administration tasks.
• Experience designing and managing maintenance plans and SQL jobs.
• Proficiency in performance tuning and optimisation techniques.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administering, maintaining and optimising SQL Server databases.
• Performing regular database backups, restorations and recovery activities.
• Monitoring and tuning database performance.
• Proactively identifying and resolving performance issues and bottlenecks.
• Developing and maintaining automation scripts to streamline routine database administration.
• Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Ensuring databases comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Responding to and resolving database-related issues.
