Job summary

Australian Retirement Trust is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Brisbane to design, develop, test and support innovative application solutions. You will contribute across the full software lifecycle and mentor teammates while aligning with ART's technology strategy.

You will lead incident investigations, release activities and architecture discussions, delivering secure and scalable outcomes. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Experience at a senior level within software engineering and application development environments.
Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
Able to communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Experience designing and developing solutions in medium to large organisations.
Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, release management and software quality practices.
Experience estimating, planning and delivering technology outcomes.
Passion for mentoring and collaboration.
Experience in regulated environments, ideally financial services or superannuation.
Understanding of operational support and complex transaction processing environments.
Willingness to obtain industry certifications such as ITIL Foundation.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and support high-quality application solutions aligned to ART's technology strategy.
Analyse business and technical requirements and implement effective software solutions.
Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices and standards.
Investigate incidents, defects and system issues and implement root cause solutions.
Support release planning, build activities and deployment processes.
Contribute to solution design, architecture discussions and technology decisions.
Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement across systems and delivery practices.
Assist with estimation, planning and delivery of technology initiatives.
Mentor and support engineers to build capability.
Identify and escalate risks per risk management requirements.
Participate in after-hours support and on-call rosters when required.
