Job summary

Australian Retirement Trust is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Brisbane to design, develop, test and support innovative application solutions. You will contribute across the full software lifecycle and mentor teammates while aligning with ART's technology strategy.

You will lead incident investigations, release activities and architecture discussions, delivering secure and scalable outcomes. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience at a senior level within software engineering and application development environments.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Able to communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Experience designing and developing solutions in medium to large organisations.
• Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, release management and software quality practices.
• Experience estimating, planning and delivering technology outcomes.
• Passion for mentoring and collaboration.
• Experience in regulated environments, ideally financial services or superannuation.
• Understanding of operational support and complex transaction processing environments.
• Willingness to obtain industry certifications such as ITIL Foundation.

You'll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to architecture, development, testing, release activities and ongoing support.

You'll provide technical leadership and expertise, helping to deliver secure, scalable and maintainable solutions that create real value for members and the business. Working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, you'll solve complex challenges, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence. You'll also support team capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, code reviews and collaboration, helping ensure consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes across the technology function.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

• Design, develop, test and support high-quality application solutions aligned to ART's technology strategy.

Qualifications
