Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the LAND4140 BMS Project in Brisbane. You will lead technical scope, shape architecture with architects, and mentor junior engineers while staying hands-on in design, development and integration.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, applying secure coding practices and deploying across diverse environments, including edge and disconnected configurations. A pathway to Technical Lead is available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Python and/or Java in a software engineering role.
• Ability to lead technical scope and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams and hierarchies.
• Experience integrating software across varied platforms and environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical scope and solution design for BMS/BCS work packages from requirements to delivery.
• Shape architecture and technical roadmap with architects and leads.
• Mentor junior and graduate engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Prioritise team tasks with leads and Product Owner, balancing Army priorities.
• Design, develop and test features mainly in Python, integrating with hardware and network infra.
• Apply secure coding and cyber security practices across the lifecycle.
• Containerise and deploy software across development, test and field environments.
• Diagnose and resolve complex software, integration and deployment issues across the stack.
• Run rapid prototypes and spikes between releases to inform engineering studies.
• Collaborate with software, systems and hardware engineers to deliver cohesive capability.
