Job summary

KBR in Australia is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Defence team, providing technical leadership across software design, development, integration and sustainment of complex solutions.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality software meeting customer requirements and mission-critical capabilities, with opportunities to mentor engineers and influence technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex software engineering solutions.
• Strong proficiency in C# WPF OOP and Unit Testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Desirable experience in Defence or regulated environments.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Exposure to systems engineering methodologies and complex programs.
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring software teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and implementation of software solutions for scientific and engineering applications.
• Analyse customer requirements and translate them into designs and technical solutions.
• Develop, test, debug and maintain software products, following standards.
• Create prototypes and participate in verification and validation activities.
• Resolve software discrepancies and support product improvement initiatives.
• Produce and maintain software documentation and baseline configuration records.
• Contribute to system analysis and software architecture evaluations.
• Support development of engineering test strategies and software evaluation.
• Provide technical leadership and coordination across work packages.
• Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders and customers to deliver outcomes.
