Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the LAND4140 BMS project in Brisbane. You will lead design and integration across BMS/BCS, mentor engineers, and work with architects to shape roadmaps while hands-on developing and deploying software in diverse environments.

The role emphasizes secure coding, prototyping, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with a strong focus on mission-critical C2 capabilities.

Qualifications

Australian citizenship required (Defence clearance eligibility)
Proficiency in Python and/or Java with hands-on deployment experience across varied platforms
Experience leading technical scope and mentoring junior engineers
Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills

Responsibilities

Lead technical scope and design for BMS/BCS work packages
Shape architecture and the technical roadmap with architects and leads
Mentor junior/graduate engineers through code reviews and guidance
Prioritise team tasks with Product Owner, balancing Army priorities
Develop features mainly in Python, integrating with hardware and networks
Apply secure coding and DevSecOps practices throughout the lifecycle
Containerise and deploy across development, test, field environments
Troubleshoot complex software, integration and deployment issues
Run rapid prototyping and spikes between releases
Collaborate with software, systems and hardware teams to deliver cohesive capability
