Job summary

Salient Group is partnering with an established Australian fintech to modernise and scale SaaS platforms used to administer complex financial products and investor services. You will design and develop Java and Spring Boot services, owning the work from design through production in a cloud-based fintech environment.

You’ll work across APIs, microservices, asynchronous processing and event-driven systems, collaborating with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable software.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices.
• Exposure to Kafka or other event-driven/messaging technologies.
• Commercial experience with AWS.
• Some Angular experience to understand an existing codebase and resolve issues.
• Experience with relational databases and application performance.
• Strong testing, debugging and production-support capability.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools productively and responsibly.
• Background in SaaS, fintech, financial services or another complex product environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to take ownership without heavy direction.

Salient has partnered with an established Australian fintech as it continues to modernise and scale the SaaS platforms used to administer complex financial products and investor services.

This isn’t a role where you’ll maintain one small part of a legacy system. You’ll build and improve business-critical software, contribute to architectural decisions and take genuine ownership from design through to production.

What you’ll build

You’ll design and develop Java and Spring Boot services supporting a complex, cloud-based fintech platform.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Excellent object-oriented programming and software-engineering fundamentals
• Experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices
• Exposure to Kafka or other event-driven/messaging technologies
• Commercial experience with AWS
• Enough Angular experience to understand an existing codebase and resolve support issues
• Experience with relational databases and application performance
• Strong testing, debugging and production-support capability
