Job summary

Latitude IT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Melbourne or Sydney with hybrid work options. You'll work on a market-leading platform in a collaborative product engineering team, across Python, C++, and React, contributing to APIs and complex systems.

You will own features from design to production, emphasize automated testing and scalable architectures, and mentor junior engineers. Financial services domain experience is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in Python and/or C++
• Experience with React or other modern frontend technologies
• Experience building and integrating APIs and complex software applications
• Strong understanding of automated testing and software quality practices
• Experience with CI/CD, source control and modern engineering practices
• Knowledge of software architecture and designing systems for scale

Senior Software Engineer | Python / C++ / React

Are you a Senior Software Engineer looking to work on complex, high-impact software used by thousands of customers?

We are partnering with a leading technology organisation within the financial services sector to find an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative product engineering team.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to the development and evolution of a market-leading platform. You’ll be working on a mix of new features, product enhancements and existing systems, solving complex technical problems across multiple products and APIs.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality, scalable and resilient software
• Work primarily across Python and C++ backend technologies, with some frontend development using React
• Contribute across multiple interconnected products and APIs
• Take ownership of work from initial design through to deployment and production support
• Build quality into the development process through automated testing and strong engineering practices
• Contribute to application architecture, clean code and scalable technical solutions
• Work closely with product, requirements, support and other engineering teams
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
• Improve engineering processes by identifying opportunities for automation and reducing manual effort
• Mentor and support less-experienced engineers within the team
• Contribute to a highly collaborative, knowledge-sharing engineering culture

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced engineer with:

• Strong commercial experience in Python and/or C++
• A willingness and ability to work across both languages
• Experience with React or other modern frontend technologies
• Experience building and integrating APIs and complex software applications
• A strong understanding of automated testing and software quality practices
• Experience with CI/CD, source control and modern engineering practices
• Knowledge of software architecture, clean code principles and designing systems for scale
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity
• A collaborative approach, with a willingness to mentor others and share knowledge

Experience within financial services, fintech or other complex product environments would be beneficial, but is not essential.
