Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join a high-performing team delivering retail projects for a key national client in Australia. The role covers end-to-end cost management from concept design through to final account settlement and requires close collaboration with client stakeholders, project managers, contractors and consultants.

The successful candidate will lead pre-contract cost planning, budgeting, procurement, and claims assessment while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, or a similar role.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience managing relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants.
• Strong experience in cost planning and estimating, contract administration, procurement and tendering, progress claim assessment, variation management, and final account negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-contract cost planning and estimating services during project design phases.
• Prepare, review and manage project budgets across multiple retail projects.
• Manage procurement and tender evaluation activities.
• Assess progress claims, contract variations, and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and provide commercial advice to clients and project teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Woolworths project teams and key stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior team members.
• Engage with local construction and property markets to maintain current market knowledge and cost benchmarks.
• Collaborate with cost management and project management teams across multiple locations.
• Deliver accurate reporting, forecasting, and commercial advice.
• Take ownership of project deliverables and manage projects independently.
