Job summary

Curtwood is seeking a detail‑driven Design Drafter to manage offshore drafters, coordinate drawings through client and design‑team approvals, and turn approved designs into production‑ready joinery using PYTHA. You’ll produce shop drawings and CNC files with PYTHA Workshop and AlphaCAM.

Part‑time at 2 days per week with potential to increase. Remote work is possible, or join the Central Coast workshop for hands‑on collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong PYTHA experience and ability to translate designs into production data.
• Experience coordinating multiple drafters and communicating with cabinetmakers.
• Deep knowledge of custom cabinetry and complex architectural joinery.
• Understanding of how joinery is fabricated and assembled.
• Experience producing CNC-ready shop drawings and production documentation.

• Review and coordinate drawings through client and design-team approvals.
• Engineer approved designs into production-ready joinery using PYTHA.
• Produce shop drawings and prepare jobs for CNC manufacture using PYTHA Workshop and AlphaCAM.
• Prepare material and hardware order lists for procurement.
• Issue complete production packages to the workshop.
• Run project handover meetings with makers and brief them on construction methodology.
• Provide technical support to the workshop throughout manufacture.
• Assist with estimating and quoting incoming joinery projects.

Job description

You'll be responsible for managing and briefing offshore drafters to produce Design Intent packages, reviewing and coordinating drawings through client and design-team approval, and engineering approved designs into production-ready joinery using PYTHA. You'll produce shop drawings and prepare jobs for CNC manufacture using PYTHA Workshop and AlphaCAM, prepare material and hardware order lists for procurement, and issue complete production packages to the workshop. You'll run project handover meetings with makers, brief them on construction methodology, critical details and project requirements, provide technical support to the workshop throughout manufacture, and assist with estimating and quoting incoming joinery projects.

About you

• Strong PYTHA experience
• Experience with PYTHA Workshop and AlphaCAM
• Extensive knowledge of custom cabinetry and complex architectural joinery
• Strong understanding of how joinery is actually constructed and manufactured
• Experience producing CNC-ready shop drawings and production documentation
• Ability to identify and resolve construction issues before they reach the workshop
• Confidence managing other drafting resources and communicating directly with cabinetmakers
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Estimating experience and/or cabinetmaking background highly regarded

This job is part time 2 days per week to start with opportunity to increase if desired. This job is available to be a remote role however if a local candidate wishes to work from our workshop that is also welcomed. The Workshop is located on Central Coast.
