Job summary

Opteon AUS & NZ is seeking a senior Product Engineer to join the ANZ Engineering team. You’ll own complex product initiatives end to end, steering delivery across legacy and modern platforms and guiding the roadmap with evidence-based decisions.

You’ll mentor Product Engineers, champion AI-assisted development, and help shape scalable, reliable systems. The role offers flexible working options and the chance to influence product strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years delivering software professionally at scale.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 security clearance.
• Strong C# skills across .NET Framework and .NET Core / .NET 8+ and ASP.NET.
• Hands‑on experience with agentic AI coding assistants.
• Experience with AWS (RDS, IAM, S3, ECS, Beanstalks).
• Experience with modern reactive front-end frameworks (Vue) and JavaScript/TypeScript and legacy MVC4.
• Experience designing and querying relational databases (MSSQL, Postgres).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Experience in a product operating model organisation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own outcomes end to end. Lead delivery on complex product problems with measurable business results.
• Build robust solutions across legacy and modern platforms with CI/CD, testing and monitoring.
• Drive discovery with user research, prototypes and technical spikes for go/no-go decisions.
• Embed product thinking with hypothesis-driven delivery and outcome metrics.
• Coach Product Engineers and peers; share assets and patterns across teams.
• Challenge feature factory approach and propose outcome-based alternatives.
• Lead with AI and set standards for safe, effective AI-assisted development.
