Job summary

Opteon’s ANZ Engineering team seeks a senior, autonomous Product Engineer to lead and deliver complex software initiatives. You will work with US colleagues, shaping roadmaps and mentoring peers in product operating model practices, AI adoption, and robust release processes.

You will design across legacy and modern platforms, implement with CI/CD, and ensure testing and monitoring are in place. A strong focus on communication and scalable architecture is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years delivering software professionally at scale.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Willingness to work reasonable flexible cross-over hours with a US-based team.
• Full Australian working rights.
• Strong PHP and C# skills across Laravel and .NET Core / .NET 8+.
• Hands-on, everyday proficiency with agentic AI coding assistants, and a solid grasp of agentic AI concepts.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (RDS, IAM, S3, ECS, Beanstalks, etc.).
• Experience designing and querying relational databases (Postgres, MySQL).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
• Experience in a product operating model organisation, or similar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own outcomes end to end for complex product problems.
• Build robust solutions across legacy and modern platforms.
• Drive discovery with user research, prototypes and spikes.
• Embed product thinking with hypothesis-driven delivery and metrics.
• Coach Product Engineers and peers on discovery and technical craft.
• Challenge the feature factory with outcome-based alternatives.
• Lead with AI and set standards for safe, effective AI-assisted development.
