Job summary

Department of Justice, Queensland – Brisbane ODPP is seeking a Principal Practice Manager to lead the Practice Manager group across all chambers. The role provides strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure high-quality service delivery across the organisation.

You will drive standardisation of chamber operations, oversee workload distribution using data insights, develop workforce sustainability strategies and champion the digital-by-default approach with THEMIS and related tools.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-site or multi-team operational functions.
• Strong people leadership capability, including performance management, conduct processes and coaching within a complex public sector.
• Experience designing, coordinating or overseeing competency-based professional development and induction programs.
• Knowledge of Queensland public sector employment instrument framework, including the Public Sector Act 2022 and related directives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Practice Manager group across all ODPP chambers, fostering a high-performing, accountable and collaborative culture.
• Drive consistent, efficient and standardised chamber operations across all locations through strong leadership and clear expectations.
• Establish and embed organisation-wide frameworks, processes and practices that support equitable and consistent outcomes for staff and stakeholders.
• Work with Practice Managers to oversee case load allocation and court work distribution, using data to identify risks and improve operational effectiveness.
• Develop and implement strategies that support workforce sustainability and wellbeing across chambers.
• Champion the digital-by-default approach by leading use of THEMIS and other digital tools for case management and reporting.
