Service NSW is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join the Emergency Management Advisory team in Sydney. The role focuses on developing policy, providing expert advice, and supporting disaster-related initiatives within the CCBB division.

The position offers in-office responsibilities with flexible work arrangements under the NSW workplace policy. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to deliver timely strategic guidance across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyse and review complex policy issues, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based options and recommended solutions to resolve problems and mitigate risks
• Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate interpretation and implementation of policies and support Agency and Government policy initiatives
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in and contribution to policy solutions and informing policy decision-making
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure achievement of desired outcomes
• Mentor and guide policy officers and support staff, ensuring governance and quality requirements are met to deliver policy priorities
• Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs aligned with agency requirements to respond to Agency and Government requests
• Provide support and coordination of the Branch’s communications, human resources and procurement activity, including record maintenance and governance
