Job description

Our client, an independent Federal Government agency responsible for implementing and administering the National Disability Insurance Scheme, require the services of aPrinciple Cloud Platform Engineer

Duties of thePrinciple Cloud Platform Engineer:

• Design, build, operate and continuously improve reusable platform services, cloud-native capabilities and secure delivery patterns that support application and product teams.
• Establish and maintain platform standards, golden paths, templates, guardrails and automation that enable teams to deliver safely, consistently and efficiently.
• Support and uplift developer experience through self-service capabilities, internal developer portals, clear documentation, reusable patterns, structured developer onboarding, enablement activities and adoption support for platform services.
• Embed secure platform engineering practices across platform services, including automated security controls, vulnerability management, compliance checks and secure-by-design delivery approaches.
• Lead platform roadmap planning, prioritisation and governance, including the definition of platform standards, reference architectures, guardrails and reusable patterns that align with agency security, architecture, operational and business objectives.

Skills and Experience Required

• Extensive experience designing, implementing and operating secure, scalable cloud platforms across AWS and Azure, with strong focus on reusable platform capabilities and operational excellence
• Deep expertise in containerisation, Kubernetes and orchestration technologies, enabling resilient, standardised and repeatable application hosting patterns
• Proven capability uplifting platform engineering practices through CI/CD enablement, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), automation, developer self-service and standardised engineering toolchains such as GitLab, GitHub, Artifactory and Jira.
• Strong application of secure platform engineering principles, including embedded security controls, automated testing, vulnerability management, policy-as-code and compliance automation
• Experience designing and supporting internal developer platforms, service mesh architectures and self-service capabilities that improve developer experience, observability, resilience and secure service-to-service communication.
