JBS Australia Pty Limited is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to guide a high-performing payroll team responsible for weekly and fortnightly payrolls across 15,000+ employees and labour hire personnel. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will ensure accurate, timely processing, robust controls and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes mentoring, stakeholder engagement and a culture of accountability within a large multi-site organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a payroll team.
• Extensive end-to-end payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements and payroll best practice.
• Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing payroll escalations and complex payroll matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, mentor and develop a team of Payroll Officers.
• Manage team workloads and payroll schedules to ensure payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for 15,000+ employees across multiple business operations.
• Review and approve complex payroll transactions, including overpayments and adjustments.
• Act as the escalation point for complex payroll enquiries and issues.
• Ensure employee payroll records and documentation are maintained accurately and compliantly.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance and service delivery.
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing, implementations and optimisation activities.
• Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation and work instructions.
• Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management activities.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, SOX requirements and company policies.
