Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer for a 6-month fixed term contract, with options for Sydney or remote work across Australia. You will own end-to-end payroll processing in a high-volume environment and support a major payroll transformation project.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Preceda, knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, and the ability to autonomously meet payroll deadlines while supporting BAU operations.

Qualifications

• Experience processing end-to-end payroll for medium to large organisations.
• Proficient with Preceda payroll system.
• Knowledge of time and attendance systems.
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation.
• Experience interpreting awards and enterprise agreements.
• Able to meet payroll deadlines autonomously.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Experience in manufacturing payroll environments.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end processing of fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
• Maintain payroll records and employee data.
• Process new starters, terminations, salary increases and back pays.
• Interpret awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation.
• Manage leave, overtime and attendance related payroll activities.
• Resolve payroll queries from employees and management.
• Complete payroll reporting and statutory obligations.
• Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts; assist with month-end activities.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.

Senior Payroll Officer | 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Sydney NSW or Remote Anywhere in Australia

Work Type: 6 Months Casual Contract, Full Time Hours

An established global manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to provide immediate operational support during a major payroll systems transformation.

This role requires a payroll professional who can quickly take ownership of assigned payrolls and independently manage end-to-end payroll processing. You will play a key role in maintaining business-as-usual payroll operations while supporting a period of organisational change.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end processing of fortnightly and monthly payrolls
• Maintain payroll records and employee data
• Process new starters, terminations, salary increases and back pays
• Interpret awards, enterprise agreements and payroll legislation
• Manage leave, overtime and attendance related payroll activities
• Resolve payroll queries from employees and management
• Complete payroll reporting and statutory obligations
