Job summary

UNSW in Sydney is seeking a Senior Officer, Policy & Contracts to support employability, work-integrated learning and industry engagement by drafting contracts, advising on policy, and ensuring compliance. The role collaborates with faculties, divisions and external partners to deliver governance and operational outcomes.

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience. A Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in policy administration, contract management including experience preparing, reviewing and coordinating contractual and policy documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to provide professional advice and recommendations within established policy frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefing papers and correspondence.
• Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional advice and support on policy, procedural and contractual matters relating to employability, work-integrated learning and industry engagement activities.

• Assist in the interpretation and implementation of legislative, regulatory and institutional policy requirements relevant to employability, work integrated learning and industry engagement activities.
• Project manages system reviews and new system development, liaising with stakeholders for consultation and implementation processes.

• Employment Type: Full Time (35 hours per week)
• Duration: 18 month Fixed Term Contract
• Remuneration: Level 7 from $118k + 17% superannuation & leave loading
• Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Working Arrangements)

Why your role matters

The Senior Officer, Policy & Contracts supports the delivery of employability, work-integrated learning and industry engagement initiatives by providing professional advice, drafting and administering contracts, implementing policy and compliance requirements, and engaging with key stakeholders. Working closely with Faculties, Divisions and external partners, the role facilitates effective contracting, governance and operational outcomes, while providing advice on legislative, regulatory, policy and strategic matters relevant to employability and work-integrated learning.

The role also manages complex case escalations from Faculties and Divisions and reports to the Lead, Policy & Contracts within the Employability team in the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success Portfolio.

Specific Accountabilities Include

• In collaboration with the Lead, Policy & Contracts and the UNSW Legal, Insurance and Risk teams provide professional advice and support on policy, procedural and contractual matters relating to employability, work integrated learning and industry engagement activities.
• Coordinate the drafting, review, amending and negotiation of contracts and related documentation.
• Assist in the interpretation and implementation of legislative, regulatory and institutional policy requirements relevant to employability, work integrated learning and industry engagement activities.
• Project manages system reviews and new system development, liaising with stakeholders for consultation and implementation processes. Support and coordinate the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and guidance materials

About You
