Job summary

UNSW is seeking an Impact & Compliance Officer to support governance, legislative compliance and reporting across the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio. The role provides advice to stakeholders and contributes to policy implementation and annual reporting.

Based in Kensington NSW with hybrid working arrangements, you will coordinate committees, prepare minutes, and help manage strategic plans and engagement activities within the team and portfolio.

  • Remuneration: Level 6 from $108k + 17% superannuation & leave loading
  • Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid Working Arrangements)

Why your role matters

The Impact & Compliance Officer supports governance, legislative compliance and reporting activities across the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio’s student support initiatives, boards and committees. The role provides advice to stakeholders on governance matters and contributes to projects focused on legislative requirements, compliance and impact reporting. The position also supports the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans, policies and procedures across the Engagement & Student Success team and broader portfolio.

The role reports to the Manager, Student Governance & Projects and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Collect, prepare and distribute the agenda and documentation for each committee preparing briefing papers for stakeholder engagement as required.
  • Attend meetings, prepare minutes and take appropriate action to enable the timely dissemination of meeting outcomes, maintaining accurate records in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with committee members, senior management and other members of the portfolio and University Governance office as required to facilitate the effective operation of committees, including establishing meeting schedules and action plans.
  • Maintain and assist in the development of documentation required for the effective project management and evaluation of student support initiatives and policy implementation, including coordinating workshops, surveys and engagement polls to effectively garner student and staff feedback.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of information organisation and retrieval. Ability to research issues appropriately and report findings accurately, both verbally and in writing, using data visualisation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to enable professional interaction as well as build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and coordination of projects and the successful delivery of programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to create accurate records of meetings, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflicting priorities; ability to take responsibility for own work and to appropriately refer problems.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications, systems and databases, including demonstrated ability to work with information systems and databases and ability to learn and implement new systems.
