Job summary

UNSW invites applications for the Program Officer, Experiential Learning. The role supports the Experiential Learning team within Student Success to coordinate work-integrated learning, curriculum skills development, and related courses.

You will manage project delivery, reporting, and communications, liaising with students, staff, and external partners while upholding program quality and continuous improvement. Hybrid working arrangements at Kensington / Sydney campus are available.

Why your role matters

The Program Officer, Experiential Learning plays a key role within the Employability Experiential Learning team in the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio, providing practical and efficient program and course support for the implementation, coordination and continuous improvement of innovative experiential learning initiatives, including work-integrated learning and curriculum skills development courses.

The role provides course, project and program support, including reporting, analysis, communications, relationship coordination and administration. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the Program Officer contributes to the effective delivery of experiential learning programs, courses, projects and initiatives, while supporting continuous improvement and positive outcomes for students.

The role reports to the Lead, Experiential Learning, and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities
  • Provide program, course, project, operational, and administration support to the Lead, Experiential Learning and the Academic Lead, Experiential Learning.
  • Develop and monitor the delivery of Employability Experiential Learning programs, projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals in alignment with the UNSW Progress for All strategy.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Experiential Learning enquiries (from students, staff, and external stakeholders), respond to, and elevate, enquiries where appropriate.
About You
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, or training and experience.
  • Experience in project development, coordination and delivery of courses and programs, preferably in education, employability and work integrated learning placements in a university environment.
  • Experience in the administration of multi-stakeholder, partnered course delivery, which includes agreements/contracts, risk assessments, work health and safety protocols, and insurance policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Demonstrated success in case managing issues to resolution in partnership with subject matter experts across dependency areas of experiential learning including legal, finance, payments, insurance, travel, and other central services, with a strong working knowledge of what matters are covered by each of these central services, and the capacity to identify, refer, and elevate issues to these central services where appropriate and/or necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, ideally including student data and information management systems and career management systems.
  • Proven project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office package, particularly in Excel, Forms and Power Automate.
  • Experience with WIL systems such as InPlace and data visualisation software such as Power BI
  • Data integration of students, particularly with reporting
  • Experience with using university Enterprise Systems (SIMS, Term Planning, Timetabling, Enrolments).
  • Understanding of LMS Systems, Moodle, and Canvas
