Job summary

University of New South Wales invites applications for a Senior Student Success & Community Development Coordinator in the Engagement & Student Success team. You will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of programs that promote health, wellbeing and student belonging, working with faculties, staff and students.

The role recruits and oversees student casuals, volunteers and peer groups, coordinates large-scale campaigns and events, and reports to the Lead, Student Success, Community &

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through education, training or experience.
  • Experience designing, delivering and evaluating programs for culturally diverse groups.
  • Experience coordinating large events engaging diverse youth audiences.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students, staff and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, coordination and evaluation of evidence-informed programs for UNSW students.
  • Coordinate large-scale health promotion events and campaigns.
  • Coordinate student success programs and initiatives (Belonging Survey, First Year Festival).
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of student ambassador programs and initiatives.

Why your role matters

The Senior Student Success and Community Development Coordinator plays a key role within the Engagement & Student Success team in the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio, contributing to the development and delivery of student success initiatives, including large-scale health and wellbeing campaigns that promote student belonging, wellbeing, engagement and success.

The role leads the development, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based and student-informed programs that are impactful, culturally sensitive and appropriately designed for priority cohorts and their peers. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, Faculties, portfolio and divisional colleagues, and UNSW students, the role applies co-design principles to build students’ awareness, understanding and help-seeking behaviours in relation to their health, wellbeing and overall success. The position also recruits, manages and oversees student casuals, volunteers and peer groups to support the delivery of initiatives and programs.

The role reports to the Lead, Student Success, Community & Partnerships and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Lead the development, coordination and evaluation of evidence-informed programs and activities for UNSW students including campaign communications plans ensuring alignment with UNSW strategy and branding.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of large-scale health promotion events including Water Safety programs, SEXtember and Mental Health Month.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of large-scale student success programs, events and initiatives including the annual Belonging Survey, First Year Festival and other identified initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of and oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of student ambassador programs and initiatives.

About You:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of successful programs to culturally diverse people. Demonstrated experience in leading communications campaigns for diverse youth audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating large events that engage young people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Relevant program or project coordination experience, with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively using co-design principles and ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with students as well as staff at all levels and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, productively, and effectively as part of a team while operating autonomously and demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach to driving process improvements.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Paid Working with Children’s Check & a Criminal Record Check.
