Job summary

AutoGuru on the Gold Coast seeks a Senior Mobile Developer to design, build, and ship native iOS and Android applications. You’ll join an Agile squad with Product and Design to create mobile experiences drivers love, even on poor connectivity and shared devices.

Expect to drive mobile stack choices (React Native/TypeScript by default), implement offline-first systems, and integrate with GraphQL/REST backends, security, and payments. Lead releases via CI/CD and support growth through mentoring.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience shipping production apps across native or cross‑platform architectures.
• Deep React Native and TypeScript skills with Swift/Kotlin for native modules when needed.
• Proven track record building offline-first apps with local sync and robust state management.
• Experience with biometrics, secure token handling, digital wallets, tap-to-pay, or related integrations.
• Focus on mobile accessibility and performance tuning for low-end devices.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving to influence peers and leadership.
• Experience with driver/field worker apps, CarPlay/Android Auto, telematics, Bluetooth is valued.
• Gold Coast based location preferred.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Developer to design, build, and ship our core iOS and Android applications! You will join an Agile squad working closely with Product and Design to build mobile experiences that drivers love and use unprompted. Our software operates in the real world: you’ll build for users on poor connectivity, shared handsets, and older devices, ensuring security, privacy, and scale are baked in from day one.

The Role:

• Full-time role.

• Drive mobile stack selection (defaulting to React Native/TypeScript) and build high-performance iOS and Android apps end-to-end.

• Design resilient, offline-first systems tuned for poor connectivity, shared cabs, battery efficiency, and distraction-free, accessible UI.

• Hook directly into native device capabilities. From telemetry and GPS to biometrics, push alerts, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto integrations.

• Fuel the app with GraphQL/REST APIs and deploy secure payment systems.

• Manage the entire release pipeline, code signing, CI/CD, testing, crash monitoring, and compliance across App Store Connect and Google Play Console.

• Set mobile standards, map out technical blueprints, and co-pilot the team's growth through pairing and mentorship.

• QA work from third-party agencies and ensure strict adherence to privacy, security, and platform regulations.

• Join the team roster to keep systems running smoothly through maintenance and high-priority outage triage.

About you:

• Extensive software engineering experience with a proven history of shipping production apps across native or cross-platform architectures.

• Deep React Native and TypeScript skills, plus the Swift/Kotlin chops to drop down and debug or write native modules when needed.

• Proven track record building resilient, offline-first apps with local sync, robust state management, and GraphQL/.NET backend integration.

• Field-tested experience with biometrics, secure token handling, digital wallets, tap-to-pay, or other regulated integrations.

• Practical application of mobile accessibility, performance tuning (cold starts, crash rates), and distraction-free UI.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills to influence peers, align business leaders, and navigate technical roadblocks.

• Experience with driver/field worker apps, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, telematics, Bluetooth, or an IT degree/equivalent experience is highly regarded.

• Gold Coast based.
