Job summary

UGL is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical to lead mechanical packages for hyperscale data centre projects in Australia. You will own design through to handover, coordinating with clients, consultants and subcontractors to ensure safe, timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.

Reporting to the MEP Construction Manager, you will drive HVAC and critical cooling system coordination, manage interfaces across disciplines, and contribute to cost, schedule and risk management.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer delivering mechanical services packages on major construction, infrastructure or mission-critical projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, critical cooling infrastructure and mechanical building services.
• Experience supporting data centres, healthcare, defence, transport, industrial or other complex commercial building projects.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing multiple stakeholder interfaces.
• Strong communication, planning, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical services packages from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors to achieve safety, quality, commercial and programme objectives.
• Drive technical coordination of HVAC systems, chilled water networks, critical cooling infrastructure and mechanical plant.
• Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, electrical, controls, ICT, BMS, fire and commissioning disciplines.
• Review designs, identify constructability opportunities and mitigate project risks.
• Monitor project performance and contribute to schedule, cost, quality and reporting outcomes.
• Support procurement, cost management and contract administration activities.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
