Job summary

Fortescue Research and Development is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive scope definition, detailed design, simulation and commissioning of mechanical systems for green hydrogen and green iron projects. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will deliver designs from concept through implementation and align with Fortescue's safety standards.

You will work with operations teams to integrate design intent into production and collaborate with suppliers and OEMs to optimise fabrication

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience in detailed mechanical engineering design.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status strongly preferred.
• Experience in 3D design, detailed fabrication drawings, and BOM management.
• Proficiency with FEA and CFD simulations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mechanical systems for electrolysers and balance of plant across green hydrogen and green iron projects.
• Develop detailed design specs, accurate 3D models and engineering drawings.
• Identify materials, components and suppliers for construction with cost, quality and availability in mind.
• Perform engineering calculations, CFD/FEA to validate design and performance.
• Work with operations to integrate design into production processes and address design challenges.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to refine mechanical design of hydrogen and iron production systems.
