Job summary

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar field.
• 6+ years of experience as a Mining Engineer; Senior Mining Engineer desirable.
• Mine design and mine planning experience essential.
• Strong leadership, team management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficient in Vulcan or similar mine packages and scheduling software.

• Deliver Quarterly 5 Year Mine Plan and monthly 3 Month Mine Plan.
• Develop fleet strategy to support the business plan.

Our Opportunity

Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 4D/3R ex Perth

We are looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to provide leadership for onsite Medium Term Planning team. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of Fortescue’s Magnetite Operation. You would be a highly motivated and technical professional with of onsite mine planning experience, responsible for delivering the mining related projects and designs as well as governing the systems and processes. Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders across all operations and corporate departments will be integral to the success and delivery of plans that align with budget/ forecasts critical milestones. Reporting to the Superintendent Medium Term Planning, your responsibilities revolve around being a leader and mentor to a small onsite team at the Iron Bridge. This role is also accountable to ensure the delivery of quarterly 5 Year Mine Plan and monthly 3 Month Plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of Quarterly 5 Year plan and monthly 3 Month Mine Plan
• Delivery of fleet strategy to support the business plan
• Collaborate with Commercial Department to prepare annual budget
• Generate Mine Plan milestones as baseline for regulatory approvals, project and infrastructure work
• Maintain Mining Block Model with regular review to ensure accuracy
• Maintain the mine scheduling software up to date and aligned to overall company strategy
• Assess & identify opportunities & risks with schedules: Life of Mine Plan, 2-10 year plan & 3 Month Plan
• Data Analytics & reporting aligned to performance and assumption metrics
• Provide mentoring and development to mining engineers
• Participate in and lead as required incident investigations
• Liaise with Strategic Planning Department to ensure alignment to Iron Bridge long term Mine Plan

Qualifications And Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar field
• 6+ years of experience as a Mining Engineer and Senior Mining Engineer is desirable
• Mine design and mine planning experience is essential
• Ability to Lead a team & work effectively unsupervised
• Good attitude to HSEC, including hazard reporting, investigations and field interactions
• A strong desire to innovate, problem solve and approach work with new ideas
• Excellent verbal and written skills, including technical writing
• Good project management ability, including cross-functional collaboration
• Proficient in Vulcan or similar general mine package, including exposure to designs and block models.
• Proficient in Mine Scheduling software package
• Alastri software suite desirable but not essential
• Demonstrated experience in hard rock, open-cut mine planning
• Experience with mining costs, including project management, mining contract accruals, or cost estimation
• Desirable to have understanding and skills with statistical data analysis and associated tools and computer skills, including Phyton, MS Excel, MS Word, Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps
