Job summary

Optus in Sydney's Macquarie Park seeks a senior Solution Architect to shape IP network architecture across mobile core, voice core and telecom platforms. You will lead end-to-end design, documentation and implementation with cross-functional teams, vendors and internal customers.

Key responsibilities include roadmapping routing/switching, onboarding new IP devices, leveraging automation, and providing technical direction during reviews and escalations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or related field (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years in IP network engineering with leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SR-MPLS, SR-TE, RSVP-TE, LDP, SRv6, EVPN, IPVPN, L2VPN, QoS.
• Experience with BNG, CGNAT, Telco edge routers, data-centre fabrics, and firewalls in on‑prem and hybrid cloud.
• Broad telecom architecture knowledge across MOCN and 5G private networks, VoLTE/VoWiFi, VoNR, IMS, 3G/4G, RAN, and network security, with automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design IP network solutions for mobile core, voice core, network management and other telecommunications platforms and services.
• Develop routing and switching roadmaps and solution strategies for scalable, secure IP connectivity.
• Lead design and onboarding of new IP network devices and topologies, leveraging automation and intent-based networking tools.
• Act as SME for routing and switching, providing technical direction during solution reviews and escalations.
• Partner with internal customers, project teams, vendors and wider IP teams to gather requirements, assess feasibility and document proposed solutions.
• Assess upcoming projects and budgets, manage technical risks and provide recommendations during escalations and milestones.
