Job summary

Carro in Perth, Western Australia is seeking a Financial Controller to own the Australian finance function and partner with business leaders. This role drives governance, transformation, and strategic financial insight.

You will lead month-end close, budgeting, treasury, and compliance, while coordinating with Group Finance and offshore teams to ensure timely reporting and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Membership with CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, and treasury, including a minimum of 3 years in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager role.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), Australian taxation, and statutory compliance requirements, including GST, BAS, and income tax.
• Experience managing or collaborating with remote, offshore, or shared services finance teams across multiple locations and time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end and year-end close for the Australian entity, delivering accurate and timely management and statutory reporting.
• Review and present monthly management accounts with commentary on performance, variances and drivers.
• Act as finance business partner to the Australian leadership, operations, sales and wholesale teams.
• Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts and cash flow forecasting, and monitor performance against budget.
• Manage treasury, banking and financier relationships, including floor-plan facilities, reporting and covenant compliance.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and GST/BAS, income tax and ASIC lodgements.
• Align local accounting policies with Group policies and update as needed.
• Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and balance sheet reviews.
• Coordinate with external and Group auditors for statutory and group audit processes.
• Collaborate with Malaysia-based Group Finance and Shared Services remotely.
• Drive post-acquisition integration of Australian finance into the Group.
• Own Australian finance process design and controls, and lead handovers of non-finance activities.
• Participate as a management member, guiding the Malaysia-based team and communicating strategy.
• Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the manager.
