Job summary

Ariston Building & Rural in Sydney is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to provide financial stewardship through its next growth phase. The role reports to the Managing Director and sits on the management team, combining strong governance with hands-on involvement.

You will lead month-end reporting, budgeting, cashflow management and FX risk, manage banking matters and costs, drive profitability analytics, and mentor office staff within a growing family-owned business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce; CA/CPA desirable.
• 10+ years in a commercial/finance role.
• Strong communication and ability to influence decision-making.
• Solid understanding of cashflow management.
• Advanced Excel and confidence with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist in all aspects of month-end reporting.
• Quality management reporting to enable profitability drivers.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• Cashflow management and FX risk oversight.
• Oversee banking matters, facilities and costs minimisation.
• Lead monthly management meetings and strategy planning.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Manage insurances and risk management.
• Payroll and recruitment support.
• Commercial analysis of opportunities evaluated by management.
• Tax lodgements and data for company tax/FBT prepared externally.
• Oversee/account for accounting, operational and CRM software used by the business.
