Job summary

Davies Ross Consulting Pty Ltd in Sydney is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead pricing for insurance and remedial construction projects from our Mascot office. You will review drawings, prepare detailed estimates, and manage tenders, while engaging with subcontractors to secure accurate, commercial pricing.

Based primarily in Mascot with site visits as required, you will coordinate with delivery teams to ensure estimates reflect project realities and risk.

Qualifications

• Must have strong estimating experience within the Australian construction industry.
• Exposure to insurance repairs, remedial works or refurbishment projects.
• Strong Cubit experience.
• Excellent subcontractor and supplier relationships.
• Strong construction knowledge and ability to understand how projects are built.
• Confidence attending sites and assessing existing conditions.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and priorities at once.
• A practical, commercial approach to estimating.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed estimates and cost plans.
• Reviewing drawings, writing Scope of Works for Sub contractors and sending out tender documentation.
• Completing detailed take-offs using Cubit.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors.
• Attending site inspections where required.
• Identifying project risks, scope gaps and potential variations.
• Working closely with Project Managers and site teams.
• Providing accurate pricing and commercial input prior to project commencement.
• Communicating directly with subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Assisting with procurement and handover from estimating into delivery.

An established Sydney construction business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join its team in the Inner West, Botany.

This is a senior, well-paid opportunity for someone who understands insurance repairs, remedial construction and refurbishment projects, and enjoys being involved beyond simply pricing a job.

You will be primarily based in the Mascot office, however the role will also involve visiting projects when required, meeting subcontractors, reviewing site conditions and working closely with the delivery team to ensure each project is priced accurately and commercially.

Projects vary in size and complexity, with values ranging up to approximately $10 million.

The Role

You will take ownership of estimating across a varied pipeline of insurance and remedial construction projects, including:

• Preparing detailed estimates and cost plans

• Completing detailed take-offs using Cubit

• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors

• Attending site inspections where required

This is not a role where you will spend every day behind a desk. The business is looking for someone who understands construction, can walk a site, speak confidently with subcontractors and help find practical solutions.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

• Must have strong estimating experience within the Australian construction industry

• Previous exposure to insurance repairs, remedial works, refurbishment or similar projects

• Strong Cubit experience

• Excellent subcontractor and supplier relationships

• Strong construction knowledge and ability to understand how projects are actually built

• Confidence attending sites and assessing existing conditions

• Strong communication and negotiation skills

• Ability to manage multiple tenders and priorities at once

• A practical, commercial approach to estimating

Experience pricing projects up to $10 million will be highly regarded.
