JV Recruitment in Sydney CBD is seeking a Senior Estimator/Estimating Manager with a Tier 2 background to lead the estimating department, drive tender strategy and shape pre-construction direction for New Build and Remedial/Adaptive Reuse projects ranging from $2M to $20M+. Responsibilities

• Take functional ownership of the estimating division, overseeing tender pipelines and final submission reviews.
• Formulate competitive bidding strategies with Directors and Head of Pre-Construction.
• Mentor and develop junior estimators, establishing standard measurement systems.
• Lead first-principles cost planning, hard-tender submissions, BOQs and lump-sum pricing.
• Engage with subcontractors and clients to secure competitive packages and build relationships.

Are you a proven Senior Estimator from a strong Tier 2 background ready to take ownership of an Estimating Department and shape the pre-construction direction of an expanding builder?

We are seeking a commercially sharp, leadership-focused Senior Estimator/Estimating Managerto head up estimating operations from our Sydney CBD headquarters. Working side-by-side with the Company Directors and Head of Pre-Construction, you will drive tender strategy and win high-value schemes across both New Build construction and Complex Remedial / Adaptive Reuse projects ranging from $2M to $20M+.

Beyond winning work, a core pillar of your role will be structuring the department, refining measurement processes, and mentoring a team of bright junior and intermediate estimators as the business continues its trajectory toward larger project scales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Department Leadership: Take functional ownership of the estimating division - overseeing tender pipelines, workload allocation, and final submission reviews.
• Tender & Pricing Strategy: Work directly with the Directors and Head of Pre-Construction to formulate competitive bidding strategies, value engineering solutions, and risk management plans.
• Team Development: Mentor, train, and develop junior and intermediate estimators, establishing standardized measurement systems and best-practice pre-construction workflows.
• End-to-End Estimating: Lead complex first-principles cost planning, hard-tender submissions, detailed BOQs, and lump-sum pricing for both New Build and Remedial scopes.
• Subcontractor & Client Engagement: Leverage strong Tier 2 industry networks to secure competitive trade packages and foster relationships with developers, consultants, and superintendents.

What We Are Looking For:

• Tier 2 Background: Proven track record working as a Senior Estimator within a recognized Tier 2 Head Contractor in Australia.
• Project Scale: History of successfully pricing and winning building projects in the $2M - $20M+ range.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Demonstrated experience coaching, developing, and leading junior/intermediate estimators.
• Sector Versatility: Deep technical expertise in New Build construction is essential; additional exposure to Remedial or Refurbishment projects is highly desired but not essential.
• Commercial Acumen: Mastery of digital take-off software (e.g., Cubit, CostX, Buildsoft), first-principles estimation, and contract types (Design & Construct, Hard Tender).
