Job summary

RecruitShop is seeking a Senior Estimator to head up the commercial division and lead the estimating team. You will prepare accurate estimates and tender submissions across a range of commercial construction projects, while heading up the commercial arm of the business and mentoring junior estimators.

Reporting directly to the Business Director/Owner, you will grow the estimating function, secure competitive pricing, and review drawings and documentation to define scope.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' commercial construction estimating experience (or relevant trade experience for junior candidates).
• Hands on experience tendering on structural projects (concrete, earthworks) and/or fit out/refurbishment projects.
• Trade background highly desirable; experience leading a team is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Heading up and growing the commercial estimating arm of the business.
• Ensuring tenders are prepared and submitted accurately and on time.
• Supporting and coaching junior estimators as they build their skills.
• Analysing bid documents to identify risks and opportunities for client reviews.
• Preparing detailed trade breakups, bills of quantities and full tender submissions.
• Sourcing, negotiating and securing competitive supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Managing tenders independently from start to finish.
• Reviewing drawings and specifications to confirm documentation and define scope.

About The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to step up. You'll prepare accurate, detailed estimates and tender submissions across a range of commercial construction projects, while heading up the commercial arm of the business and stepping into a senior, mentoring role within the team.

Reporting directly to the Business Director/Owner, your responsibilities will include:

• Heading up and growing the commercial estimating arm of the business
• Ensuring tenders are prepared and submitted accurately and on time
• Supporting and coaching junior estimators as they build their skills
• Analysing bid documents to identify risks and opportunities for client reviews
• Preparing detailed trade breakups, bills of quantities and full tender submissions
• Sourcing, negotiating and securing competitive supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Managing tenders independently, from initial documentation through to final submission
• Reviewing drawings and specifications, including structural (concrete, earthworks), fit out and refurbishment scopes, to confirm documentation and define scope

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
• A genuine desire to step up into a Senior Estimator role and grow with the business
• Hands on experience using Cubit or CostX, essential (Cubit highly regarded)
• Experience tendering on structural projects (concrete, earthworks) and/or fit out and refurbishment projects
• 3+ years' commercial construction estimating experience (or relevant trade experience for junior candidates)
• A genuine trade background, highly desirable; candidates with strong trade experience but less estimating tenure will also be considered
• Confidence managing tenders independently from start to finish; the depth of this experience will determine whether you're best suited to our Intermediate or Senior opening
