Job summary

Applied Installations in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of competitive tenders and pricing submissions across a diverse portfolio of works, from building refurbishments to civil infrastructure. You will work closely with directors, project managers, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to develop accurate, commercially sound tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in Building, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.
• Minimum 7 years' estimating experience in commercial construction, civil works or infrastructure.
• Proven track record preparing tenders valued from $100K to $10M+.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and contract delivery models.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

We are a growing construction and infrastructure business delivering building refurbishment, maintenance, civil and construction projects across government, utility, commercial and infrastructure sectors.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of competitive tenders and pricing submissions across a diverse portfolio of works.

This is a senior position that plays a critical role in securing future projects and supporting the ongoing growth of the business. You will work closely with directors, project managers, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to develop accurate, commercially sound and successful tender submissions.

About the Role

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial review through to final submission and project handover. You will identify opportunities, assess risks, develop pricing strategies and build strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders to maximise tender success.

Building refurbishments and upgrades

Commercial construction projects

Civil infrastructure works

Maintenance contracts

Government and utility sector projects

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.

Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documentation.

Conduct site inspections and assess project risks, constraints and opportunities.

Obtain, evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.

Develop competitive pricing methodologies and value-engineering solutions.

Prepare tender qualifications, clarifications and supporting documentation.

Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries and benchmarking information.

Liaise with operational teams to ensure effective transition from tender award to project delivery.

Assist with procurement planning and contract negotiations.

Monitor market conditions, labour availability, material costs and industry trends.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Actively participate in industry engagement and business development initiatives to support tender opportunities and successful project outcomes.

About You

To be successful, you will possess:

Qualification in Building, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Minimum 7 years' estimating experience within commercial construction, civil works or infrastructure sectors.

Proven experience preparing tenders valued from $100K to $10M+.

Strong understanding of construction methodologies, civil and construction contracts and project delivery models.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

High-level proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet competing deadlines.

Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the business.

Proactive approach to identifying opportunities, networking within the industry and contributing to successful tender outcomes.
