Job summary

AEMO is seeking a Senior Engineer in System Planning to shape Australia's power system by assessing network capability and developing robust solutions for secure, reliable transmission planning across the National Electricity Market.

Based in any Australian capital city, the role delivers complex analyses, mentors engineers, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support investments and policy objectives for a sustainable energy future.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience in power system stability, dynamics and analysis.
• Experience with power system analysis tools (PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to lead technical studies and deliver engineering recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality power system analysis and modelling to assess system security, reliability and development.
• Provide expert engineering advice to support planning outcomes in time-constrained environments.
• Assess future system needs including network augmentation, system strength, inertia and voltage control.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery, including methodology, analysis, QA, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop constraint equations and inputs to support market modelling of future system security and development pathways.
• Manage multiple priorities while communicating insights clearly and coaching engineers.
