Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in Sydney is seeking a Senior Engineer to shape Australia’s power system planning. You will analyse network capability, identify challenges, and develop solutions ensuring security, reliability and efficient transmission planning for the National Electricity Market.

You’ll lead complex studies, mentor engineers and engage with internal and external stakeholders, using tools like PSSE and PowerFactory.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering with focus on power systems.
• Proven knowledge in power system stability and dynamics.
• Experience with transmission network planning and studies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality power system analysis and modelling to assess security and reliability.
• Provide expert engineering advice to support planning outcomes.
• Assess future system needs including network augmentation and inertia for inverter-based resources.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery with stakeholder engagement.
• Develop constraint equations for market modelling and development pathways.
• Manage multiple priorities while coaching engineers.
