Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Engineer to shape Australia’s power system planning. You will assess network capability, lead complex analyses, and deliver insights to inform investments for a secure, reliable, and sustainable energy future.

The role requires hands-on power system analysis experience, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to mentor engineers in time-constrained environments.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of power system dynamics and stability concepts.
• Experience using power system analysis tools (PSS E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical studies and deliver engineering recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Collaborative mindset and passion for shaping Australia’s energy future.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality power system analysis and modelling for system security and development decisions.
• Provide expert engineering advice to support planning outcomes.
• Assess future needs including network augmentation and system strength.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery and mentor engineers.
• Develop inputs for market modelling of future system security and development pathways.
• Manage multiple priorities and build stakeholder relationships.
