Job summary

EatClub in Brisbane, Australia is hiring a Senior Engineer, Billing and Payments to own the money flow from customer payments to venue settlements. You will build payment flows, integrate partners like Stripe, and lead billing, tax and collections across markets including Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.

You will work with Finance and Support to translate problems into robust system changes, ensuring financial accuracy and reliability in a fast-growing hospitality tech scaleup.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in payments, billing or similar systems.
• Working knowledge of card payments: authorisation, capture, refunds and settlement.
• Hands-on experience integrating with a modern payment provider such as Stripe.
• Experience building or operating billing and invoicing systems, including tax and collections.
• Double-entry thinking with ledger and reconciliation concepts.
• Strong backend engineering in cloud infrastructure with thorough testing of financial logic.
• Proven track record delivering significant end-to-end production projects.
• Ability to collaborate with Finance and Customer Support to translate problems into system changes.
• Familiarity with AI development tools and prudent use where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Own the flow of money through EatClub: from customer payments at venues to settlements with venues via payment partners.
• Build and extend payment flows, add new methods and partner integrations.
• Keep payments reliable by investigating failures and improving signals.
• Ensure venue settlements are correct in all markets and cycles.
• Lead billing: invoicing, fees, tax and collections; align with ledger records.
• Collaborate with Finance to reconcile money end to end and fix discrepancies.
• Replace manual processes with features on payments and billing.
• Review code, test financial logic thoroughly, and mentor mid-level engineers.
