Job summary

Specialised Engineering Technologies seeks an Environment, Health and Safety Manager to lead EHS on major projects in the Newcastle region. You will ensure head contractor and subcontractor alignment with client EHS standards, WHS legislation and project requirements across a large multi-building campus.

Responsibilities include auditing safety plans, supervising high-risk activities, investigating incidents and delivering EHS performance reports to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Work Health and Safety (essential).
• 5+ years in construction EHS on major projects (essential).
• Strong working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience auditing contractors and reviewing incident investigations.
• Data centre, energy, mining or critical infrastructure experience (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and audit head contractor compliance with client EHS standards, the WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017.
• Review contractor safety management plans, SWMS and critical risk controls.
• Oversee high-risk activities, including electrical and HV works, work at heights, lifting, excavation and confined spaces.
• Review incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are closed out.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including planning conditions, erosion and sediment control, and noise, dust and water management.
• Support safety in design reviews and contractor prequalification.
• Prepare EHS performance reports and present them to senior project stakeholders.
