Job summary

Lockyer Valley Regional Council in Gatton, QLD is recruiting a Senior Development Engineer to assess development applications, provide expert engineering advice and ensure outcomes are compliant with legislation and planning schemes. You will lead the development engineering function, mentor staff and support the Development Assessment team to achieve high‑quality assessments.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
• A current driver’s licence is required.
• Successful applicants will undertake a pre-employment medical assessment, drug screen, criminal history check, work entitlement check and qualification verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the development engineering function within the Development Assessment team.
• Provide specialist engineering advice and recommendations to support development assessment and statutory decision‑making.
• Identify engineering risks and compliance issues and work with applicants to resolve matters.
• Collaborate with Council teams to achieve coordinated and timely assessment outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in development assessment processes and standards.
