Logan City Council is seeking 2 highly skilled and motivated Principal Development Assessment Engineers to join our Logan Water Development Services Program. This pivotal leadership role blends technical excellence, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement to support the city’s growth and long-term sustainability.
You’ll serve as a key interface between Logan Water, Council’s Development Assessment Branch, and the broader development industry—including developers, engineering consultants, the Urban Development Institute of Australia, and State Government agencies. Your leadership and technical expertise will help shape Logan’s urban future and ensure resilient, sustainable water infrastructure for generations to come.
- Provide expert engineering advice on complex water and sewerage development matters, including pre-lodgement consultations, design reviews, and construction standards
- Lead assessments of technically complex development applications, identifying risks and opportunities for Council infrastructure and stakeholders
- Review developer-submitted water and sewerage designs to ensure compliance with Logan Water standards
- Develop and implement quality assurance and compliance frameworks for development engineering assessments
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and briefs for senior stakeholders, including Council executives and elected officials
- Negotiate and manage infrastructure and tankering agreements for large-scale developments
- Contribute to the development of policies and standards for water and wastewater infrastructure
- Stay current with industry standards, legislation, and capital works programs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business efficiency and customer service
- Promote a strong safety culture and apply safety-first decision-making
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to resolve risks and issues
- Capture and use performance data to support team reporting and improvement
- Apply lean management principles and quality systems in daily operations
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering acceptable for Engineers Australia Membership at the grade of Member is required. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer, Queensland (RPEQ) is a requirement.
- Experienced in assessing and preparing residential and commercial development applications for water and wastewater infrastructure, with strong knowledge of land development, building services, and local government water and sewerage systems.
- Experienced in quality assurance assessments, with a passion for coaching and providing technical support to engineers and emerging professionals in a continuous improvement environment.
- Extensive knowledge of the relevant standards and products of the South East Queensland Water Supply and Sewerage Design and Construction Code (SEQcode),
- Experience in leading and delivering Business Improvement Initiatives.
- Advanced knowledge of water supply and wastewater infrastructure planning, design, construction and operational practices.
- Highly developed skills in using a Geographical Information System (eg. Citymap, ArcGIS) including navigating contouring and asset identification.
- Possession of a current ‘C’ class driver's licence.
- Construction Safety Induction (White Card) – or must be able to obtain within 3 months of commencement
