Job summary

The City of Casey in Melbourne’s southeast is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to help deliver Australia’s most liveable city by guiding engineering activities, providing expert assessments, and engaging with stakeholders to improve development outcomes.

You will review plans for traffic, drainage, and environmental management, manage team priorities, and support leadership with technical guidance under Council delegation.

Qualifications

• Registration as an Engineer by 1 October 2022 or willing to undertake qualifications to be registered as a Professional Engineer.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent Engineering Degree with relevant experience assessing development engineering proposals and providing written technical advice.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess engineering documentation including plans for traffic, drainage, lighting, and environmental management, ensuring compliance with planning and development standards.
• Conduct engineering assessments of town planning, subdivision, and building proposals, and respond to referrals with expert advice on development engineering matters.
• Manage daily work priorities within the team, support senior leaders, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve development issues collaboratively.
• Approve development engineering matters under Council's Deed of Delegation and provide timely advice and support to managers and staff on technical issues.

Education
