Job summary

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is seeking a Coordinator Building, Plumbing and Compliance in Gatton to lead a team delivering building, plumbing and development compliance services. You will provide technical guidance on regulatory matters and ensure services align with legislative obligations and council policies for sustainable development.

You will oversee inspectors and certifiers, drive consistent delivery, mentor staff, and foster strong relationships with applicants and the community

The Lockyer Valley is ideally situated one hour’s drive from inner city Brisbane, situated along the Warrego Highway and spanning approximately 2,200 square kilometres. The Position

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Coordinator Building, Plumbing and Compliance to lead our team and oversee effective delivery of building, plumbing and development compliance services.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering good outcomes for the community, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies, and supporting sustainable development.

As the Coordinator Building, Plumbing and Compliance, you’ll lead and support a team of building, plumbing and compliance professionals, provide technical guidance on complex regulatory matters, and ensure services are delivered consistently, efficiently and in accordance with legislative obligations. You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading, mentoring and supporting a team of plumbing inspectors, building certifiers and development compliance officers to achieve high-quality outcomes.
• Providing expert building, plumbing and compliance advice on complex and sensitive matters.
• Ensuring building, plumbing and compliance services are timely, consistent, customer-focused and aligned with relevant local government processes, legislation and statutory requirements.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, applicants, the broader community.
• Supporting continuous improvement across compliance processes, systems and service delivery.
• Contributing to strategic compliance initiatives and organisational priorities.
