Job summary

Lockyer Valley Regional Council in Gatton, QLD is recruiting a Senior Development Engineer to assess development applications, provide expert engineering advice and ensure outcomes are compliant with legislation and planning schemes. You will lead the development engineering function, mentor staff and support the Development Assessment team to achieve high‑quality assessments.

The Position

Are you an experienced development engineer ready to make a meaningful impact on the future of our community?

We’re looking for a knowledgeable and solutions-focused Senior Development Engineer to join our Development Assessment team and play a key role in assessing development applications, providing expert engineering advice and ensuring development outcomes are fit for purpose and meet statutory obligations and community expectations.

As the Senior Development Engineer, you’ll provide technical expertise in assessing engineering aspects for development applications, ensuring outcomes comply with relevant legislation, Council’s Planning Scheme, engineering standards and statutory requirements.You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading and mentoring the development engineering function of the team and providing support to the wider Development Assessment team to achieve high-quality assessment outcomes.
• Providing clear and sound specialist engineering advice and recommendations to support development assessment and statutory decision-making.
• Identifying engineering risks, technical deficiencies and compliance issues, and working with applicants and consultants to resolve matters where appropriate.
• Collaborating with the Development Assessment team and other Council teams to achieve coordinated and timely assessment outcomes.
• Contributing to continuous improvement in development assessment processes, technical standards and service delivery.
