Job summary

BaptistCare NSW/ACT - Aged Care in Newcastle, NSW seeks an experienced Senior Counsellor to provide high-quality therapeutic support to individuals and families affected by domestic, family and sexual violence. You will work across Newcastle and Central Coast services, delivering trauma‑informed counselling and safety planning.

The role involves collaborating with teams, undertaking risk assessments and travel between multiple sites to support recovery and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience working with individuals and families in the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) sector.
• Demonstrated experience delivering trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic counselling using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
• Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans for clients.
• Collaborate with clients and internal/external stakeholders to support recovery and wellbeing.
• Travel across Newcastle and Central Coast regions to deliver services.
