Job summary

BaptistCare NSW/ACT - Aged Care in Penrith NSW is seeking a Counsellor/Group Worker to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based counselling and group programs for individuals, couples, children and families, to build resilience and wellbeing. You will work within the Community Services & Housing team with clients from diverse backgrounds, including those affected by Family and Domestic Violence.

The role includes engagement with local schools to support early intervention and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant human services (e.g. Psychology, Counselling, Social Work) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Clinical membership of PACFA or AASW.
• Experience supporting individuals, couples and families impacted by complex issues, including Family and Domestic Violence, separation, conflict, parenting challenges and trauma.

• Located in Western Sydney (Penrith / St Marys / Mt Druitt)
• 4 days per week, 7. 6 hours per day between 8am - 6pm (flexible start/finish times depending on team member needs and operational needs) - must work Tuesdays
• 12 month fixed term contract (view to extend based on funding)

About the Role:

As a Counsellor/Group Worker with BaptistCare, you will provide trauma-informed, evidence-based counselling and group programs that support individuals, couples, children and families to build resilience, strengthen relationships and improve wellbeing. Working within the Community Services & Housing team, you will support clients from diverse backgrounds, including those impacted by Family and Domestic Violence, through compassionate, collaborative and person-centred practice.

This role will also involve engaging with local school communities to support early intervention, wellbeing initiatives and connection with children, young people and families. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of targeted group programs, including Living Beyond Abuse (LBA) program to support women impacted by domestic family and sexual violence

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Tertiary qualifications in relevant human services (e.g. Psychology, Counselling, Social Work) or equivalent demonstrated experience

Clinical membership of relevant professional body (e.g. PACFA - Psychotherapy, Counsellors Association of Australia or AASW)

Demonstrated Experience supporting individuals, couples and families impacted by complex issues, including Family and Domestic Violence, separation, conflict, parenting challenges and trauma.
