Job summary

Western Sydney Local Health District – Blacktown NSW is seeking a Domestic Violence Family Support Counsellor to join the Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service at Blacktown Community Health Centre. You will provide specialist counselling and case management to children, young people and families affected by domestic violence, working in a trauma-informed, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.
• Eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
• Experience in complex trauma and trauma-informed practice in Violence, Abuse & Neglect settings.
• Understanding of domestic violence policies and relevant legislation.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Indigenous and culturally diverse communities.
• Current NSW Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist counselling and case management to children, young people and families affected by domestic violence.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments for children, young people and families.
• Deliver trauma-informed counselling, psychoeducation and safety planning.
• Develop and manage therapeutic case plans with partner services.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies for integrated care.
• Provide advocacy and contribute to interagency case reviews.
