Qualifications

• 5+ years deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 5+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment.
• 3+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
• 3+ years of programming with at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
• 3+ years leading design, automation, deployment and support of large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the software services and platforms that run the AWS network within the region.
• Lead engineering to make services more resilient, automated and scalable.
• Ensure health and reliability of critical network software systems.
• Identify patterns in operational burden and engineer them away with automation.
• Build self-healing workflows from runbooks and automation.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Design and implement new components to improve operational efficiency.
• Lead investigations, root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Conduct retrospectives to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with global service teams to enable deployments.
