Job summary

Amazon Support Services Pty Ltd in Australia is seeking a System Development Engineer to build, operate, monitor, and continually improve the networked cloud services across the region. You’ll own software services that run the AWS network and partner with global teams to automate and stabilize operations.

The role sits at the intersection of software engineering and site reliability, spanning full-stack development, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Responsibilities

• Own the software services and platforms that keep the AWS network running within the region – and continuously reinvent them to be better, faster, and more resilient.
• Manage service deployments, troubleshoot operational issues, and maintain service health – while driving permanent solutions that automate and minimize human intervention.
• Design and implement entirely new software components, products, and services that improve operational efficiency for network engineer customers.
• Take ownership of in-house services, carrying full-stack development responsibilities from design to operational management and continuous improvement.
