Job summary

Amazon seeks a System Development Engineer to build, operate, monitor, and assure the AWS network within a region. You will own in-house services, drive automation, and collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable deployments and scalable solutions.

You will work across languages and frameworks, contribute to security and efficiency, and help shape how Australia’s national security cloud operates. Relocation support is provided to Sydney or Melbourne-based candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Go, Java, C++, C# or Rust).
• Strong Linux/Unix experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own software services and platforms that run the AWS network within the region.
• Develop automation that reduces recurring issues and improves stability.
• Collaborate with global service teams to plan deployments and resolve issues.
• Design and implement new components to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
